Institutional Governance

Institutional Governance Training Program

Good governance of health care institutions is fundamental to an effective and fair healthcare system. Essential to this is the proper understanding of the role of governing boards in establishing sound relations with institutions’ owners, effective policy writing, and performance assurance. Furthermore, grasping the benefit of separating governance from management is vital as it gives the opportunity for governing boards to concentrate on steering healthcare institutions in the right direction while giving management and staff the necessary authority to execute the appropriate plans that will move healthcare institutions towards their desired goals.

The Health Governance Unit currently holds an annual three-day workshop on the principles of board governance related to healthcare organizations such as hospitals and primary healthcare units. The Health Governance Unit is happy to offer this workshop on demand to boards of healthcare organizations who are keen to implement principles of good governance in their institutions.
